(Niuniu report from our newspaper) An anniversary party was held at New Oriental Art School at 7 pm on November 19th. The students’ paintings and dances were used to showcase the school’s achievements over the past year. The ballroom dance display and learning were particularly popular. About 70 to 80 Chinese and American friends spent this pleasant night together. New Oriental Art School has grown from about 40 students when it was first established to more than 100 students now. Currently, the school has 4 full-time dance teachers and 3 painting teachers. The curriculum has also expanded from the earliest dance classes to more than a dozen courses including children's dance classes, children's painting classes, children's handicraft classes, adult dance classes, adult dance classes for boys, adult ballroom dance classes, Zumba fitness dance classes, chorus training classes, Tai Chi fitness classes, Yangko dance classes, and lectures on Chinese calligraphy and painting culture. Over the past year, New Oriental Art School has given many wonderful performances to the Chinese community, but the highlight is this year’s Spring Festival. "Watching the Spring Festival Gala" is one of the most important activities for Chinese people during the Spring Festival New Year's Eve dinner. New Oriental Art School has taken on the important task of hosting the Phoenix Spring Festival Gala. The 2012 Phoenix Spring Festival Gala will be held on January 21 (the 29th of the lunar calendar) at the Chandler Center For The Arts. Co-organized by New Oriental School of the Arts, ASU Confucius Institute, Tucson Huasheng Choir, American Overseas Chinese Newspaper and other units, it presents a dazzling Chinese culture and art feast that combines Han, Tibetan, Qiang, Dai, Yi and other Chinese ethnic dance performances, cantata, solo, children's chorus, and instrumental music. Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming soon. What gifts should Chinese friends give to their friends? Sending a few Spring Festival Gala gift vouchers should be a special choice, allowing Chinese and Western friends to truly feel the charm of Chinese ethnic culture. Tickets for the Spring Festival Gala are now on sale and are available at New Oriental Art School, Xinxin, and Lili supermarkets. For more details please contact: (602) 490-8613
