Consul General Qiu Shaofang of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles and officials from various consulate general groups January 4 Japan held a New Year media reception at the Chinese Consulate. Consul General Qiu said in his speech that 2011 was a year in which China achieved new and important progress in its peaceful development process, and was also a year in which China-US relations maintained overall stability. Chinese President Hu Jintao successfully visited the United States at the beginning of the year, ushering in a new stage of building a cooperative partnership of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win between China and the United States. Vice President Biden's successful visit to China in August further promoted the implementation of the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. During President Hu Jintao's visit to the United States, he and President Obama jointly announced the establishment of the Sino-US Provincial Governors Forum mechanism, which received active response and participation from local governments in China and the United States. Provincial, state and local cooperation has increasingly become a new force in promoting the development of relations between the two countries. Consul General Qiu went on to say that the common interests between China and the United States are constantly expanding, and the areas of cooperation are constantly expanding. According to Chinese customs statistics, the import and export trade volume between China and the United States from January to November last year reached 40.5434 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 16.9% over the same period. Among them, China's exports increased by 14.8% year-on-year, and imports increased by 22.7% year-on-year. The growth rate of U.S. exports to China was much higher than the export growth rate of other countries. The two-way personnel exchanges between China and the United States have also increased significantly year by year. From January to October last year alone, there were nearly 3 million people, a year-on-year increase of 27%. This has greatly boosted consumption and investment in the United States and led to the rapid development of related industries. Consul General Qiu also said that in the past year, the Consulate General has actively expanded friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation with all walks of life in the United States in the consular district and achieved positive results. Arizona Governor Brewer, Hawaii Lieutenant Governor Schatz and Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa successfully visited China, and the exchange of visits between local governments all achieved positive results. 接着,教育参赞陈准民,商务参赞舒骆玫,侨务领事王鹏等各组别负责人一一上台对工作作简要介绍。
