Eleven-year-old Katrina Jia won the first place in the junior high school category of the Southwest Regional Finals of the National Association of Music Teachers Piano Competition (left) Jia Ke who participated in the competition. Katrina Jia, who just turned 11, dominated the six-state Southwest Regional Finals held in Las Vegas on January 7 with her skillful skills, outstanding expression and outstanding performance. She stood out and won the first place in the junior high school category (11 to 14 years old) and will represent the Southwest Region in the finals of the National Competition to be held in New York in March. The MTNA National Music Teachers Association Piano Competition held annually is divided into three levels: state level, regional level, and national level. The first place in each state can enter the regional competition. The fifty states in the United States are divided into seven regional competitions. Only the first place in the regional competition can enter the national finals. It is really an extremely difficult competition. This time, Jia Ke represents Arizona and is the youngest among strong players from California, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada and Hawaii. It is the first time that she has to face many winners in various piano competitions and some disadvantages. Jia Ke’s victory is not only due to her talent, but also inseparable from her hard work. It is also inseparable from teacher Xu Fei’s usual teaching and the experience of personally taking students to participate in every competition. Let us sincerely wish Jia Ke the best in the finals.
