> Fang Lizhi’s funeral will be held on Saturday, local time, in the small auditorium of the funeral service center in a cemetery east of Tucson. What the reporter saw at the scene was that the cemetery was a large green lawn, surrounded by many palm trees, and the hills in the distance could be seen as far as the eye could see. The staff told the "Apple" reporter that Mr. Fang's body will be cremated after the farewell ceremony. It is reported that in addition to Fang's family, relatives, friends and colleagues, some pro-democracy activists in exile in the United States will also come to attend the farewell ceremony. It is reported that Fang Lizhi often had dinner with his students at Zhujiayuan, a Chinese restaurant in the city. Yesterday, reporters went to the restaurant. When they mentioned him, the chefs all remembered that he was always visited by a large group of people and always ordered the signature crab. But they never knew about Fang's Wei Shui history or his death. The reporter also found a free Chinese newspaper called Arizona's "Next Weekly" in the restaurant. Both its Chinese and English names were copied from publications owned by Hong Kong's Next Media Group. The restaurant owner said the newspaper was shipped from Phoenix, and the latest one here was published on March 9. One week after Fang Sudden's death, Liu Dexun, deputy chairman of Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council, expressed his condolences from an official position for the first time yesterday: "Professor Fang Lizhi is actually a well-known scientist in the mainland. He played a very important and iconic role in the mainland's democratic movement in the past, so everyone is very sure of his position. His I believe that his death is a loss to the development of human rights as a whole. From the government's perspective, we certainly express our condolences for such an unfortunate fact."

Fang Lizhi lived in Tucson, which is located in the southwest of the United States and is the closest city to Mexico. The local weather is hot and dry. In addition to the lizards used as the "city emblem" that can be seen everywhere, there are also tree-shaped cacti that are taller than people. There seem to be more people than people. According to statistics, the city has a population of 520,000, making it the second most populous city in Arizona. However, even on the street in the city center during the day, the reporter could not see more than ten people at a glance. On the contrary, the traffic flow was constant. The local taxi driver explained that the houses here are very scattered. The reporter who did not drive went to what was said to be the only place in the city where he could buy a mobile phone SIM card. A phone card cost US$14 (approximately HK$109), but it cost him HK$500 in taxi fare for the round trip, which was really expensive.

One shooting per month. The area around the University of Arizona can be regarded as the busiest place in the city. Under the scorching sun, boys and girls dress coolly and enjoy their youth. Local Chinese students reminded reporters not to wander around the streets after dark. Public security in the city is not good, with an average of more than one shooting per month. The reporter was dubious at first, but when he walked past a downtown restaurant, he saw a "No guns allowed" sign on the window and hurried back to the hotel. However, most of the people this reporter has come into contact with so far are warm and friendly.
