Mid-Autumn Festival celebration for the elderly - Mid-Autumn Festival celebration at Feini Chinese Senior Center Liu Guotai On the morning of September 28, 2012, Phoenix Phoenix Chinese Elderly Center held the 2012 Mid-Autumn Festival celebration event. The spacious hall seemed so crowded today. According to incomplete statistics, about two hundred people attended the celebration. According to the customs of the Chinese nation, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a festival for family reunion. The whole family eats moon cakes, admires the full moon, and talks about their ideals. It is a happy festival for everyone. We old Chinese living in Phoenix, USA, regard the Senior Citizens Association as our home. In this home, we care for each other and help each other. We are not relatives, but we are better than relatives. In addition to working, the elderly often have various hobbies throughout their lives. Today, they are showing off their skills and talents and having fun. The local Overseas Chinese Federation and Chinese celebrities also came to congratulate. Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee Advisory Committee Member Yin Yanheng, Overseas Chinese Federation Chairman Zhang Huafang, Taiwan Friendship Association President Wan Peijie, Taiwan Association President Caiping and well-known overseas Chinese leader Gao Zhizhong all attended the event. Chairman Zhang and Committee Member Yin presented gifts and gifts to the Senior Citizens Association respectively. Senior overseas Chinese leader Yu Wenjin and other overseas Chinese leaders purchased fried chicken and cakes for the event, and the Chinese Elders Association prepared a reunion mooncake for each person. The event started slowly with the song "Ode to Coral" by the Cantonese choir. More than 30 elderly people rehearsed hard for several weeks and showed their results in front of everyone. The bright costumes were a bit festive, especially the neat and loud singing, which touched everyone's heartstrings. The elderly members of the Mandarin chorus also sang several songs such as "Moon Full in the West Tower". Some of them are famous domestic scholars, some are university professors, and some are famous doctors, but here, they are all old singers with childlike innocence. Their harmonious tunes make everyone's hearts beat together, and they receive bursts of applause from everyone. The health dance "Love Cha Cha" reminds the elderly to pay attention to their health. The lively rhythm and graceful dance give people a beautiful enjoyment. The musical instrument ensemble "Autumn Moon over a Flat Lake", with its superb acting skills, mesmerized the elderly and made them enjoy the power of the music. Many singing enthusiasts performed on the stage, and their beautiful singing moved people's hearts. Along with the song, some people involuntarily walked onto the stage and danced, and the stage and the audience became one. The old man participating in the fashion model team's performance slowly walked onto the stage wearing a gorgeous long dress and accompanied by the music of "Sweet Honey". They appeared as a group or individually. Their elegant temperament and graceful steps really infected everyone. Everyone present sang "Sweet Honey" along with their dance steps. The harmonious interaction on and off the stage pushed the performance to a climax. At the end of the performance, when the members of the model team pulled out the banner of "Mid-Autumn Festival Reunion", the audience gave them warm applause. After the program, the senior center also prepared a sumptuous lunch for everyone. Everyone had a Mid-Autumn moon cake, a cake with blessings and happiness, chicken nuggets that meant "good luck", beans and rice that meant "abundant grains", and the delicious pork chops with black bean sauce, which made everyone feast. The Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations are over, but joy is still rippling in the hearts of the elderly, and everyone is still immersed in the joy of reunion. An old man expressed everyone's feelings: "Here we are full of care, full of joy, and here we always have fun. The Senior Citizens Association is our home. I hope we can have this day every year, and this day every year!" Everyone wishes our relatives in the motherland a happy Mid-Autumn Festival and all the best!
