Leaders of five Chinese schools in the greater Phoenix area gathered and communicated (reported by Shuai Zhiruo) At the suggestion of Song Liangwu, principal of Modern Chinese School, and Huang Shuangshuang, chairman of Hope Chinese School, and Shuai Zhiruo, the liaison person of the National Chinese Schools Association in Arizona, the leaders of the five Chinese schools in the greater Phoenix area gathered and communicated at the Blue Sky Restaurant on December 16 after a hard-working semester. The leaders of the five Chinese schools in the city who attended the gathering that day included Modern Chinese School Principal Song Liangwu and Vice Principal Zhu Yan; Hope Chinese School Chairman Huang Shuangshuang, Principal Zhao Caihong, and Teaching Principal Xie Xiaohong; Phoenix Chinese School Principal Cheng Xiuling; Phoenix Chinese Christian Church Chinese School Principal Li Zhen; and Feini Chinese School Vice Principal Deng Junquan. The heads of each Chinese school introduced their respective school’s profile, curriculum, teaching features, cultural activities, parent activities and other aspects at the gathering. Everyone was very interested in the situation introduced by the heads of each school and kept asking for more detailed information. During the exchange process, the leaders of each school carefully discussed the ideas and measures for Chinese education. Through exchanges, those present had a preliminary understanding of the five Chinese schools’ historical origins, population size, teaching materials, curriculum, student sources, teacher teams, school activities and other characteristics. After listening to the introductions by the heads of each school, everyone further felt the hard work and persistence of each school in educating Chinese and spreading Chinese culture under different operating conditions in a multicultural environment. Principal Song Liangwu said that it is very meaningful for everyone to exchange school information together; he also proposed that in the future, each school would recommend excellent teachers to each other to help improve the quality of teaching and benefit students who receive Chinese education in our region on a wider scale. The heads of all Chinese schools present at the meeting expressed their approval of such an initiative. Chen Rongji, principal of Tucson Zuxun Chinese School, who recently attended the ninth national conference of the National Association of Chinese Schools, and Shuai Zhiruo, the association’s contact person in Arizona, brought the certificates awarded to Chinese schools in the state by the conference back to Phoenix. The National Chinese Schools Association commended more than 100 Chinese school leaders from more than 400 member schools at this conference to reward the outstanding contributions made by relevant school leaders in the past two years by actively participating in large-scale activities such as the "Chinese Culture Competition", "China Overseas Exchange Association Touring Lecture Team Teacher Training", and "Chinese Culture Summer Camp" hosted by the association. Due to the outstanding number of people participating in the above large-scale activities and the achievements achieved in the Arizona region, a total of 15 Chinese education workers in the state were commended. Shuai Zhiruo handed over the certificate of award to the heads of relevant schools and thanked them for their active support and participation. Finally, the heads of the Chinese schools who attended the party happily took a group photo and wished each other happy holidays and see you in the new year.
