Day7: It was this volcano that buried Pompeii, the second largest city in ancient Rome, under 5.6 meters of volcanic ash overnight in AD 79. Today, Naples, twenty kilometers away, is even more prosperous than Pompeii was back then. Mount Vesuvius has actually been lurking, ready to move. I hope we won’t see this scene tens of thousands of years from now: The teacher said to the children, this is the ruins of the famous ancient city of Naples. . .
Day8: Today there are two themes, cars and mountains. Basically driving all day. It ran across the Apennines from east to west, half of Italy from north to south, from Suleto in the southwest to San Marino in the northeast. Italy is surrounded by sea on three sides and is mountainous and hilly. The hotel in Sureto is on a hilltop, next to the Mediterranean Sea. San Marino is also a mountain town facing the Ridrian Sea. This morning, we first came down from Su Lai Tuan Mountain. Then we crossed the Apennine Mountains from east to west through many mountain roads and tunnels. When crossing the highest snow-capped mountains, the longest tunnel was more than 10 kilometers long. In the evening we headed over the mountains to San Marino. San Marino is quiet and clean. From the top of the mountain you can overlook the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea.
Day9: Arriving in Venice too late. Still looking for southeast, northwest. But the feeling of water city is there immediately. All means of transportation have water versions, water taxis, water buses, water carriages, everything you need. This WeChat message was sent on the water bus.
Day10: Venice has a strong commercial atmosphere, with shops, restaurants and hotels everywhere. There are a lot of tourists, but this is also a common sight in tourist resorts during the peak tourist season. The scenery in Venice is beautiful and special. But just like in the Grand Canyon, the scenery is similar everywhere, and it makes you tired of looking at it. I love mountains more than water. I miss the mountains around Arizona a little bit now. Am I homesick?
