(Communications from the Federation of Overseas Chinese) On June 5, the Phoenix Overseas Chinese Federation led the recent beauty pageants to visit the state government and were warmly received by state Senate Majority Leader David M. Gowan, Senator Andy Biggs, and many members of the House of Representatives. The beauties visited various government departments such as the State Senate Chamber, House of Representatives Chamber, and Courts with great interest, and experienced first-hand the operation process of on-site meetings and passing laws of the House of Representatives. Kimberly Yee, the first Chinese-American female senator, also took time out of her busy schedule to meet with the contestants and take photos with them. Former Overseas Chinese Federation chairmen Deng Chaoju, Yu Ziren, Lu Meilan, and Deng Hezheng, current Overseas Chinese Federation vice-chairmen Cui Zengqi, Zhang Zhaohong, Gao Zhizhong, Deng Zhaolin, Yu Zizhong, and beauty pageant chairman Wen Linglin attended this event.

The visit to the Senate and House of Representatives in the state capital was an eye-opener for the beauties. It turned out that the work of the state and House of Representatives was not as serious and rigid as imagined, but very humane and free.
