(Reported by the Chinese Welfare Association) May 26, 2014, the Memorial Day of the American Memorial.凤凰城侨界代表来到市中心的《先民和军人纪念墓园》(Pioneer & Military Memorial Park)，展开对华侨先民的追悼和拜祭活动。包括凤凰城侨联总会、斐匿华人福利会、邓高密公所、余风采堂、开平同乡会、中国餐馆协会、荣光会、台联会、龙冈公所、学术界、亚省太阳鸟华人网等团体和成员，向华人墓地献上花圈花蓝，并向凤凰城先民们进行鞠躬悼念。

参加悼念活动的华人代表 在1880年代初，铁路开通到凤凰城，城市原来的旧墓地须搬迁，当年有部分无人认领的华人墓葬者由市政府集中安葬于新墓园，即现的华人墓地。 According to cemetery information, a total of 50 Chinese of Chinese descent were buried here from 1886 to 1914. In the era of discrimination and anti-Chinese, the Chinese had a sad history, and some people asked their descendants to transport their bones back to China. Due to the continuous desertion of the cemetery, no Chinese have come to pay their respects here for many years. 1990年初，有ASU考古学者在此墓地进行了发掘，列出尚存的廿三位华人墓葬者的名单，其中包括有邓氏、余氏、黄氏、关氏等早期的华人先民，墓地还有惟一的一块墓碑，上面刻有＂开平大楼村人邓湘远坟墓＂的碑文。考古小组不得其解，曾委托华人学者唐孝先登报寻找＂邓湘远＂后裔的讯息，但由于年代久远，多年来仍是杳无音讯。 近年来，斐匿华人福利会主席张肇鸿为解开这个＂墓碑谜团＂，进行了多年的调查研究，从姓名查到族谱，从美国查回中国，从历史查到现在，终于有了水落石出。因纪念墓园的建立有年份的佐証，邓湘远的辈份有邓氏族谱资料的佐証，所以，在未有其它新发现之前，推论邓湘远的墓碑有可能是亚省华人遗留下来的最早的墓碑，碑文是亚省华人遗留下来的最早的中国文字。 This tombstone has great reference value for future research on the history and culture of Chinese people in Alberta.
