In the just-concluded 2016–2017 In the Overseas Taoli Cup International Dance Competition, Peng Tianyue, a student from the Art College of Alberta, won the Platinum Award, the highest award in the competition. This marks that the level of Chinese dance at the Alberta School of the Arts is among the best in the United States. In order for students to have more opportunities to improve and learn, the Art Institute of Alberta specially hired Chen Wei, a former judge of the New York competition of the Overseas Peach and Plum Cup, to provide guidance. She will provide special guidance on the artistic expression of dance, technical points, competition procedures, etc. Let students with a solid foundation achieve excellent results in competitions.
This year, many solo dancers, group dancers, group dancers and other students of different ages at the Art Institute of Alberta are preparing for the next competition and want to take their dance skills to a new level.
The competition is the stepping stone for a dancer's dream to come true. The results are important, but the most important thing is that the students participating in the competition get a learning process, life experience, exercise opportunities and goals to strive for.
If you are interested in choosing solo dance or group dance, please contact your class teacher or Teacher Qiu. Under the teacher's advice and guidance, you can choose the program and arrange the time for small classes (since there are currently many small classes, parents are asked to arrange class time with the teacher and the school in advance). We will first be taught movements and routines by teachers from our school. Teacher Chen Wei will provide individual guidance when she comes.
There are many students who do not do it entirely for the competition, but just hope to improve their skills, strengthen basic dance training, and prepare for solo and group dances. Please ask your teacher to select the program as soon as possible so that the school can arrange the time in a unified manner.
Teacher Chen Wei graduated from Beijing Dance Academy, majoring in Chinese classical dance and folk dance. In 2001, he continued his studies at Shenandoah University in Virginia, USA, and received a master's degree in modern dance, jazz dance and choreography. Teacher Chen Wei has specialized in professional dance teaching in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the United States. She has received the honor of being the best instructor several times and won the title of outstanding dance teacher in a dance competition on American television. Teacher Chen Wei’s students have won the highest awards in international dance competitions many times.
Teacher Chen Wei’s rich teaching experience in China and the United States and her qualifications as a judge of the Overseas Taoli Cup Dance Competition, I believe she will definitely bring a new leap forward for our students.
