"Water Cube Cup" Chinese Song Contest Arizona Division Competition Summary (Picture) [Contribution from the Arizona Division Organizing Committee] The 2011 "Water Cube Cup" Overseas Chinese Youth Chinese Song Contest Arizona Division, jointly sponsored by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China, the Beijing Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, and the All-China Youth Federation, has successfully concluded recently. 16 contestants from this division were awarded the "Water Cube Cup" Arizona Division 2011 Outstanding Singer Award" by the judging panel. The five judges on the judging panel will sign certificates and award them to the winning players. The Beijing "Water Cube Cup" organizing committee will issue certificates to 16 contestants. The four winning contestants from this division will use DVDs to participate in the finals of the national competition in order to select contestants for the Beijing "Water Cube Cup" Overseas Youth Chinese Song Contest. The birthplaces of the contestants in this division include the United States, China, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia; the nationalities include Manchu, Han and Hui; the age range is 14 to 26 years old. One of the contestants is a boy. The number of participants in the Arizona Division this time is much higher than in other divisions in the United States. This is all due to the active participation and strong support from all aspects. The four Chinese schools in the state played a key role. After receiving the news of the competition, Principal Lei Hong of Zusun Chinese School in Tucson not only quickly released the news to the Chinese community in Tucson through the Chinese school website and the "Tucson Chinese Contact Newsletter", but also printed the poster on the back of the program of the school's graduation ceremony at his own expense to ensure that everyone A parent can be notified; he contacted Principal Liu Dong of Tucson Mandarin Church Chinese School by phone as soon as possible, who was about to board a flight back to China. Therefore, Principal Liu, as a member of the organizing committee, quickly sent the competition news to the school, and the school also quickly recommended teacher Wang Guixian, the referee of the competition. Modern Chinese School played a very important role in this competition. After the former principal Wei Yi received the news of the competition, he and the former chairman Li Guangxuan immediately sent the news to the whole school; after the current principal He Chunxiao received the news of the competition, he quickly decided that the school’s vice president Zhu Yan would enter the competition as the school coordinator. The competition organizing committee; the school quickly recommended Wang Nan as the school’s referee; Vice Principal Zhu Yan is the chairperson of the organizing committee of this competition area. She not only released the competition news via email several times, but also called the students in the school’s Chinese AP class and Chinese 12th grade students one by one to encourage students to sign up for the competition. Xie Ming not only quickly contacted Li Guohua of the school to serve as the referee, but also made a special call to contact the students and graduated students of the school to sign up for the competition. Shuai Zhiruo, a member of the organizing committee and vice president of the National Association of Chinese Schools, served as the coordinator of the competition and was responsible for contacting the organizing committee of the national competition and promoting it in local newspapers. In order to better promote Chinese songs through this activity, the judging team recommended songs with healthy content and beautiful melodies to young people by sending emails and publishing them in newspapers. Referee Li Guohua, the composer of the well-known song "Oh My God, China", quickly selected more than ten online links to the songs. Referee Chen Yi from the Tucson area also recommended nearly ten songs from different eras, different styles, and different singing methods. Xie Ming from the organizing committee compiled a document and sent it to the newspaper to recommend to young people. In order to encourage young people to participate, the registration fee for this competition in the state division is waived. Not only are the referees and organizing committee members happy to contribute to the competition, but other organizations and enthusiasts in the local community also serve voluntarily for this competition. Ms. Fang Huixian, the former president of the Overseas Chinese Federation, responded to some teenagers’ inquiries about the competition via email in a timely manner; she helped New Mexico students contact the state organizing committee; she was also responsible for receiving the competition videos sent by mail. Employees of "Xinxin Supermarket" help receive video tapes submitted by players. In particular, Ms. Gao, the owner of "August Love Song", not only videotaped the 11 contestants for free, but also provided a venue for the competition scoring activities. It is also worth mentioning that one parent urgently needed the accompaniment of a song but could not find it anywhere. After learning about it, Miss Gao used the resources of the karaoke hall to solve this problem as quickly as possible. The state's "Alberta Times", "Asian American News", "Hispanic American News", "Sunbird" and "Tucson Chinese Contact Newsletter" and other Chinese websites have made multiple publicity reports for this event free of charge. On the scoring day last Saturday, June 4, the referees worked continuously from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. before having lunch. In particular, the two referees from Tucson, Teacher Chen Yi and Teacher Wang Guixian, were driven very early by the chairman of the organizing committee, Principal Lei Hong, and arrived in Phoenix on time. Organizing committee members Zhu Yan, Lei Hong, Xie Ming, and Shuai Zhiruo participated in the scoring activities throughout the day and solved problems in the competition in a timely manner. Everyone coordinated and worked hard, and finally the competition was successfully completed. The members of the organizing committee and the judges have initially agreed to invite the participating singers from the state to gather for a celebration in conjunction with the performance of the competition winners and singing stars at the "Water Cube" on August 8.
