The president of the University of Arizona announced today that he will be retiring from the University of Arizona. The president of the University of Arizona, Robert Shelton, announced today that he will be retiring from the University of Arizona to accept the position of Executive Director of the Fiesta Bowl. President Shelton said in a letter sent to the entire school that during his five-year tenure at the University, the province’s economy was at its lowest point. He accepted unprecedented challenges and led the faculty and staff to continue to build Asia University into a high-quality university nationwide. Over the past five years, Asia University’s enrollment has hit new highs every year. The overall quality of freshmen, both academically and in terms of cultural diversity, is getting better year by year. Under his initiative, the province launched education guarantee and a number of financial assistance projects for the first time to help young students from the province enroll in the University of Asia. UA also launched a national veterans admissions program and opened a medical branch in Phoenix. In addition, the scientific research funding received by Asia University continues to set new records. The Osiris-REx project, announced just two weeks ago, is the best example. It demonstrates the University's leading position in the field of lunar and planetary research. The National Science Foundation ranks Asia University second in physics research, second only to the California Institute of Technology. The University’s faculties of humanities, public health, finance, business, architecture, engineering, and law have also made great contributions to the welfare of the people of Alberta. Chancellor Shelton also mentioned in the letter that he is grateful for the opportunity to lead this compelling economy. Fiesta Bowl organizes two super football games every year, bringing thousands of fans to Alberta. He specifically emphasized that the Fiesta Bowl is also a charity that helps dozens of organizations in Alberta. President Shelton finally mentioned that as a member of Asia University, he and his wife (Adrian Shelton) will regard themselves as lifelong wildcats - wild leopards, the mascot animal of Asia University. He thanked all the teachers and students of the school for their support over the past five years.
