On July 25, the contestants who came to Beijing to participate in the "Water Cube Cup" Overseas Chinese Youth Chinese Song Competition tried their skills in front of the media cameras. The outstanding performance of the contestants won the applause and cheers of the audience.
Yan Jieya from Arizona is just 15 years old this year. Although her height is not fully developed due to her age, her loud and high-pitched song "Qinghai-Tibet Plateau" immediately silenced the entire venue. Yang Ziyi from Canada is a very fashionable and handsome boy. Facing the camera, he used a passionate dance to show the charming charm of youth and dreams. Yan Jingqi from Australia did not know Chinese characters. His speech was marked with Chinese pinyin, and he expressed the common aspirations of the contestants in less fluent Chinese: Winning the prize is only an individual's glory, but the process of struggle is everyone's wealth. Regardless of the outcome of the competition, we will use our best performance to celebrate and commemorate the tenth anniversary of the successful bid for the Beijing Olympics and the third anniversary of its successful hosting.
Chu Shimin, deputy director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Beijing Municipal Government and spokesperson, said in an interview with the media that the "Water Cube Cup" Overseas Chinese Youth Chinese Song Contest has attracted the active participation of overseas Chinese teenagers, which reflects the "national sentiment" and "Olympic sentiment" of overseas Chinese teenagers. The 29 winners who came to Beijing to participate in the semi-finals and finals all have great talents, and they will be fully displayed in the following competitions.
