Open the window of Chinese culture in Arizona - "Golden Autumn October" Chinese Dance Performance At 7 pm on October 22, New Oriental Art School and Rhodes Junior High School jointly held the "Golden Autumn October" Chinese Dance Performance. On the day of the performance, there will be about 300 Chinese audiences and 300 American audiences in the auditorium of Rhodes Junior High School. This is very rare in events held in the Chinese community, with the ratio of Chinese to Americans reaching 1:1. Lu Lihua, the principal of the Oriental Art School, said that this is the first time to cooperate with an American high school and hopes to open a window for the spread of Chinese culture in Arizona. Children are rehearsing for the performance. In mid-August, New Oriental Art School is preparing for a teaching report performance, and the venue for the performance has become the most troublesome problem. Teacher Hu Qiuzi from New Oriental Art School and some parents who are enthusiastic about serving the school made dozens of phone calls to local middle schools, hoping to contact a suitable performance venue. Mr. Gao Zhizhong, a well-known overseas Chinese leader in the community, gave strong support and help. In the end, Rodes Junior High School became the first candidate among many schools. In the first meeting with the school, the school introduced the performance intentions in detail. The first was to report the school’s teaching results to the community, and the second was to prepare for the traditional Chinese Spring Festival Gala. Matt Devlin, the principal of Rhodes Junior High School, was at the meeting, listening to it and feeling happy in his heart. His school has just cooperated with the Confucius Institute at Arizona State University to open a Confucius Classroom. The Chinese dance performance at New Oriental Art School should be the best learning opportunity for children who love Chinese culture. The principal immediately decided to cooperate with New Oriental instead of just renting the venue. They sent students from the Confucius Classroom and teachers from the New Oriental Art School to host the party. They also invited many Chinese fans to learn about a different China through singing and dancing. Students from the Confucius Classroom will bring the super popular Chinese songs "Have to Love" and "Super Star". The participation of Rhodes Junior High School allowed the Confucius Institute and overseas Chinese leaders in the Chinese community to unite to prepare for this grand gathering of Chinese and Western people. The biggest feature of the "Golden Autumn October" Chinese dance performance is that the audience can not only see wonderful dances, but also the solid basic skills of Chinese dance, such as lowering the waist, splitting legs, small jumps, and big jumps. From folk dance to classical dance, the display of various skills is the focus of this performance. For this performance, several dance teachers from the New Oriental Art School have conducted many preparations and discussions to not only demonstrate the basic skills of dance, but also reflect the stage effect. What will be presented to everyone in the end will be a feast of dance skills. Several young actors who have studied folk dance for many years will demonstrate their understanding of Chinese dance in single, double, trio, quadruple and other forms. The Tibetan three-person dance "Dolma Divine Fragrance" is an original program by dance teacher Hu Qiuzi. The three little girls will use their cheerful and simple dance postures to interpret the open-minded and cheerful personality of the Tibetan people to the audience. Every small pattern on the clothing will tell everyone what represents Tibetan auspiciousness and happiness. The Han dance "Celebration" and the Qiang dance "Qiang Love" allow the audience to see a corner of the Chinese family composed of 56 ethnic groups. The Chinese dance performance in "Golden Autumn October" is just a small training for the 2012 Arizona Spring Festival Gala. More brand-new dances, stage design, lighting and sound effects will be displayed in the 2012 Spring Festival Gala. According to the Spring Festival Gala preparation team, the small dances in this performance will be compiled into highlights and included in the Spring Festival Gala. Phoenix's Peacock Girl Chen Si also brought dance artist Yang Liping's "Moonlight" to the stage. Children are busy rehearsing. Dancing and singing have no national boundaries and are the most enjoyable ways to understand cultures. Principal Lu said that she hopes there will be a place where Chinese descendants can inherit Chinese culture and a place where Chinese activities can be held. From this "Golden Autumn October" performance and the New Oriental Art School's participation in the opening dance of the American Professional Baseball League in August, I found that they seem to bear more responsibilities, not only for Chinese Americans, but also for Americans around me to understand China, understand Chinese language and culture. One day, I hope that American children will also fall in love with Chinese culture like we learn "Crazy English" in China.
