Recently, the Chinese Seniors Association's Standing Committee discussed and decided that, in accordance with the Association's Charter, the Annual General Meeting will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, December 9, 2011. This conference will discuss and adopt this year’s newly revised constitution of the Senior Citizens Association, and elect a new chairman, deputy chairman and a new executive committee. Candidates for chairman and vice-chairman must complete their registration before December 2 by combining their own registration and member nomination. The Chinese Senior Citizens Association is a mass organization with many members in the Phoenix area. It is a 501-C(3) non-profit organization approved by the government. Any Chinese living in the greater Phoenix area who are over 60 years old can apply to join the association as a formal member. As of now, there are more than 1,100 registered members, and about 400 people regularly participate in activities of the Senior Citizens Association. The purpose of the association is to unite the Chinese elite and enhance the welfare of its members. Over the years, members have elected a group of people who are enthusiastic about serving everyone to form the executive committee, who serve members voluntarily without receiving any remuneration. In order to keep the work of the Senior Citizens Association fresh and dynamic, the newly revised charter stipulates that the term of office of the chairman shall not exceed two years and clarifies the responsibilities of the committee members. We hope that our members who are enthusiastic about serving the elderly will actively sign up for the election and join the volunteer team. We hope that all members will work together to turn the annual general meeting into a united and joyful gathering. In recent years, due to changes in some members' home addresses, they have not been able to receive meeting notices on time. We hope that members will tell each other and notify us by writing or calling us of their new addresses in order to strengthen contact.
