The second World Chinese Education Conference introduced new measures to promote Chinese education (photo) U.S. representatives attending the World Chinese Education Conference: members of the National Association of Chinese Schools, principals of Chinese schools in various places [Contribution from the National Association of Chinese Schools] Last month, the Second World Chinese Education Conference concluded successfully in Xi'an. Shuai Zhiruo, vice president of the National Association of Chinese Schools, attended the conference on behalf of the association and made a report to the conference as the discussion convener of the first group. After Shuai Zhiruo returned to the United States recently, he has reported to the president of the association and some Chinese education personnel on the main contents of this conference and the opportunities it will bring to Chinese education work in various places in the future as well as new measures to promote the development of Chinese education. Nearly 600 representatives from all walks of life from 37 countries and regions attended this Chinese Education Conference to discuss plans for Chinese education. The theme of the conference is: Gathering strength to promote the development of Chinese education. The main contents include: exchanging the current situation, characteristics and development trends of overseas Chinese education; discussing new ideas and new measures to promote the sustainable development of overseas Chinese education; holding the "Overseas Chinese Education Demonstration School" awarding event; commending outstanding overseas Chinese teachers; commending outstanding overseas Chinese educators; and holding the Chinese Culture Knowledge Competition Finals. What is encouraging to Chinese education professionals in various countries and regions is that at this conference, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council launched a series of new measures to promote the development of overseas Chinese education, including: Strengthen communication and cooperation with foreign education departments, encourage domestic institutions to exchange and cooperate with foreign countries; plan to build 300 Chinese education model schools overseas within five years; help 200 Chinese schools build Chinese libraries every year; develop "localized" teaching materials to meet the "individualized" needs for Chinese teaching materials in different countries and regions; conduct research and development Interesting extracurricular readings and teaching materials; intensify the training of Chinese teachers, establish a "trinity" training mechanism of training, assessment, and certification; develop a Chinese proficiency test system; vigorously carry out Chinese cultural experience activities, including overseas youth summer (winter) camps, Chinese cultural knowledge competitions, essay competitions and other activities.
