On the evening of May 3, the lobby on the first floor of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles was brightly lit and bustling. All overseas Chinese groups sent representatives to participate in the first-ever reception held by the Consulate General with the theme of "Looking for Local Sound, Talking about Friendship, and Networking Reception." Ambassador Qiu Shaofang, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles, Deputy Consuls General Sun Weide and Bian Lixin, Education Counselor Chen Zhunmin, Cultural Counselor Che Zhaohe, Commercial Counselor Shu Luomei, Science and Technology Counselor Zhang Jian, as well as consuls from the overseas Chinese affairs, press, visa and other groups basically attended the reception and talked with the overseas Chinese leaders of various overseas Chinese delegations. Ambassador Qiu Shaofang first said in his speech that the purpose of inviting everyone to the Consulate General today is to talk about friendship with the overseas Chinese community and learn about local accents. At the same time, we did not invite the media to participate today. The purpose is to invite everyone to the Consulate General to feel relaxed and casual as if they were at home. You can put forward whatever you like to talk about, what you want to know, and any requests or suggestions you have. Then he introduced the heads of each group of the Consulate General and the consuls present to the overseas Chinese one by one. He hoped that everyone would take advantage of this opportunity to understand and communicate with each other. Ambassador Qiu Shaofang then briefly introduced the current domestic and international situation, especially the topics of concern between China and the United States. At the same time, I would like to express my gratitude to the overseas Chinese in the overseas Chinese community for their continuous concern to promote cross-strait exchanges, participate in the construction of the motherland, support the construction of their hometown, and strive to promote cooperation between China and the United States for their contributions. Ambassador Qiu also said that the Consulate General will continue to serve the overseas Chinese community as always, care about and support the development of overseas Chinese in the local area, and strive to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese in the United States.

The reception was full of deep nostalgia and friendship. Ambassador Qiu also took the initiative to speak in Cantonese from time to time with the overseas Chinese in Guangdong, especially those from Siyi. The overseas Chinese in attendance also interacted with the consuls from various groups of the Consulate General to understand the issues they were concerned about. Moreover, officials of the Consulate General also took photos at the request of the overseas Chinese. The venue was filled with peace, warmth, laughter, and the Consulate General also prepared a sumptuous Chinese dinner for the overseas Chinese.
