China Roots Journey Summer Camp Guangdong Camp focuses on teaching Chinese culture The National Chinese Youth Federation, one of the overseas organizers of the "Roots Journey" summer camp, announced in Los Angeles that it will organize a group to participate in the 2012 China Roots Journey Summer Camp-Guangdong Camp hosted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Guangdong Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office. Healthy overseas Chinese teenagers from all over the United States, aged 14 to 23, are welcome to sign up. According to reports, the Guangdong Camp will open in Guangzhou on July 13. In the past two weeks, it will teach overseas Chinese teenagers courses including learning practical Chinese conversation, knowledge of Chinese tourism geography, knowledge of Chinese studies, Zen martial arts or Chinese folk dance, Chinese calligraphy, painting and other Chinese culture-based courses. Summer camp ends on July 25th. According to the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, the purpose of organizing the "Root Journey" summer camp is to allow overseas Chinese teenagers to better learn, spread and inherit Chinese culture, and to understand and appreciate the breadth and depth of Chinese culture. In particular, overseas Chinese teenagers can further understand the new look of Guangzhou, China after the Asian Games, appreciate the essence of Lingnan culture, broaden their horizons, carry forward China's thousands of years of excellent culture, and enhance the pride of the new generation of overseas Chinese. Through "searching for the roots of blood", learning the Chinese language and talents, and visiting the mountains, rivers and historical sites of their hometown. The Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangdong Province will be responsible for campers’ accommodation, courses, travel, meals and other expenses during the summer camp. International travel air tickets, visa fees and registration fees are paid by campers themselves. Operation time: July 13th to 25th, 2012, a total of 13 days. Camp locations: Guangzhou, Shunde and other areas in Guangdong. Activities include: learning practical Chinese conversation courses, knowledge of Chinese tourism geography, knowledge of Chinese traditional culture, Zen martial arts or Chinese folk dance, Chinese calligraphy, painting, visits to historical sites, exchanges and social activities with students from schools in Guangdong Province, etc. The National Chinese Youth Federation stated that Chinese teenagers in North America are welcome to sign up.
