Orange County Taiwanese Traditional Week Series of Activities - Taiwanese Cuisine Cooking Teaching The Orange County Taiwanese Heritage Week series of activities, which lasted for nearly a month, held an activity with Taiwanese characteristics "Taiwanese cooking practical teaching" on May 20, which attracted nearly 200 folks to come to the Orange County Overseas Chinese Education Center to observe and learn, and the venue was packed to the rafters. The conveners of this year's Orange Taiwan Heritage Week, Lu Yaoxun, Lin Cuiyun, and Huang Hefen, said that many overseas Chinese are nostalgic for the snacks of their hometown. In order to carry forward Taiwanese cuisine and allow the nostalgic overseas Chinese to make their own meals through "DIY" cooking methods, so that the whole family can enjoy local Taiwanese snacks in the United States, "Taiwanese cooking practical teaching" was specially launched during the Traditional Week activities. In view of the fact that modern people pay attention to health care, this cooking class specifically teaches health-preserving vegetarian food: Wisdom Cake, Geely Rolls, and Xintian Ajie. The organizer invited famous chefs Luo Huili, Ji Fengyi, and Lei Wenyu of the famous vegetarian restaurant "Yueyi Xintian" to come to give demonstrations and provide recipes for guests to make. The chefs’ exquisite craftsmanship and witty explanations filled the scene with fragrance and laughter. During this period, a short video was played to introduce the nutrition and benefits of vegetarianism, and teach everyone how to understand soy sauce and choose cooking oil. Finally, a live demonstration of freshly baked health food was shared with all the guests. The 7 major events of the Orange Taiwan Heritage Week came to a successful conclusion on the evening of May 21 after the grand performance by the National Taiwan University of Arts' "Grand View Dance Theater" dance team at the Irvine Barclay Theater.
