National Day - The day I look forward to - Selected winning essays on Independence Day (Winner Award) (Author: Lu Yezhen) As we all know, the Fourth of July is the National Day of the United States. On this day every year, many homes fly the Stars and Stripes, and some people wear clothes with red, blue and white colors. It’s more lively at night, and there are several spots where you can watch fireworks. In the past, my children and I always brought drinks, snacks and small stools to the fireworks display area early to play and wait to watch the flowers. It was very enjoyable. I remember it was the summer of 2009. The Oriental Art School sent me and several classmates from the dance class to perform at the 2009 July 4th U.S. National Day and Miss Chinese Beauty Pageant, dancing "Dae Jang Geum" and "Qiao Hua Dan". The program that day was rich and colorful, and each contestant presented her best performance in the talent show. In addition, there are lion dances, fashion shows, solos, dances and more. The contestants also had to give witty answers, which I found to be the most challenging. Contestants need to have extensive knowledge, quick thinking, calm mind, and fluent eloquence. Because I also have a show, I have the opportunity to interact with the beauties backstage. I observe that they have all become friends. Everyone is talking and laughing backstage, and the atmosphere is very harmonious. From then on, I learned that since 1970, Phoenix has held an annual "Celebration of the Fourth of July and Miss Chinese Phoenix Pageant" event. After the event, many people will watch the fireworks together. Oriental Art School often sends dance class students to perform, and I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to participate in the performance. I also love to see the beauties wearing beautiful costumes and fully displaying their talents. It is like eight immortals crossing the sea, each showing his magical powers. As I grow older, I become more and more interested in Chinese National Day activities, because in recent years some of my friends who are very familiar with me have begun to participate in beauty pageants. This year, four of my friends participated, and I was lucky enough to go to the show again and help out backstage. I'm looking forward to this year's National Day. It’s the festival, and many people gather together to have a good time. We Chinese in Phoenix gather together in this way to celebrate National Day, which is very unique.
