On January 16, 2013, the new police chief of Phoenix City, Daniel V Garcia, invited more than 30 representatives of the Asian Chinese overseas groups in the Phoenix area to meet at the American Senior Citizen Activity Center. The Sheriff and the deputies shook hands one by one, took photos and had cordial conversations. He first extended New Year congratulations to Chinese friends and thanked the Chinese community for their outstanding contributions to social security. He hopes to continue to strengthen cooperation with the Asian overseas community to ensure that everyone can live in a free, just, fair and safe environment. He pointed out that the Chinese crime rate is the lowest among all ethnic groups, which shows that the Chinese community has a good moral character. At the end of the symposium, Zhang Huafang, on behalf of the Overseas Chinese Federation of Huanghuang City, presented the police chief with an embroidered portrait of the Great Sage Sun Wukong, and introduced that he could help subjugate demons and evil spirits. The Sheriff was very interested and asked for it to be placed in his office to help with his work. The department heads and detectives of Phoenix City Police Department attended the meeting and had a delicious Mexican dinner together. (Contributed by the Federation of Overseas Chinese)
