On the evening of February 23rd, 38 tables of red banquets were arranged in Lukfook Restaurant. Feini Deng Gaomi Office welcomed more than 380 guests and held the 2013 Spring Banquet, bringing together family members, overseas Chinese leaders in Phoenix, relatives and friends. Among the overseas Chinese who attended the banquet were senior overseas Chinese leader Yu Wenjin, Chairman of the Overseas Chinese Federation Zhang Huafang, former White House Asia-Pacific Affairs Advisor Deng Chaoju, former Superior Mayor Michael Ong Hing and his family, Yu family members, Huang family members, etc. all came to the scene to celebrate, and the whole house was full of joy. In the center of the banquet hall hangs a powerful couplet: "The family reputation in the Eastern Han Dynasty is good, and the world of Nanyang is prosperous", which reflects the growth of the Deng family. Deng Haibo, the veteran of the National Deng Clan Association in San Francisco, on behalf of the San Francisco Deng Gaomi Office, brought each guest a ballpoint pen with the words "San Francisco Deng Gaomi Office" printed on it to express New Year greetings to the Phoenix Clan and friends attending the meeting. At about 7 pm that day, after a wonderful lion dance performance, Deng Yuetian, the veteran of Fei Ni Deng Gaomi Office, announced the start of the party. Chairman Deng Fengzhan delivered a welcome speech. Deng Fengzhan, a native of the United States, first spoke in Taishan dialect that was not fluent but quite standard. Then he expressed a warm welcome to all the guests in English and wished everyone good luck and good health in the Year of the Snake! After the Chairman and the two Vice-Chairmen of Phenideng Gaomi Office toasted to everyone, four outstanding students who graduated from high school were awarded scholarships, namely Alton Hing, Sarah Tang, Kaitlyn Ong and Johnathan Tse. The parents and grandparents of the four outstanding students were invited to the stage to take photos. It was mentioned at the meeting that the Deng Gaomi Offices in California and Arizona will jointly host summer camp activities from July 19 to 22 this year. This activity aims to develop and promote young Deng descendants to take up leadership positions in the community, strengthen the exchange of ideas and promote relationships among Deng family members.
