Opening Ceremony and Chinese New Year Ball
Controlled by Mayor Jim Lane of Scottsdale After cutting the ribbon on Wednesday, Great Wall Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital held another grand opening ceremony and Chinese New Year Dance on Saturday, January 18, 2014. The dance started at 4:30 pm on Saturday and was held at the new address of the Great Wall Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (3225 N. 75th St. Scottsdale, AZ 85251). Guzheng performances and lion dance performances attracted nearly 100 people from California, Texas, and Arizona to participate in the dance. Guests included new and old patients of the Great Wall Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, famous doctors who cooperated with the Great Wall Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Dr. Vance Inouye, Dr. Mark Cwyner, etc.), friends of Dr. Xiao Qingsong, etc.
The dance brought together celebrities from the province: guzheng performer He Ludi, Chairman of the Sichuan-Chongqing Association Chen Zhigang, the three major doctors of the Xiao family, and Alex Yu
The dance featured guzheng and lion dance performances, demonstrating the breadth and depth of Chinese culture to the public. The ball also showed reports on Wednesday's ribbon-cutting by Mayor Jim Lane of Scottsdale, the re-education project of Great Wall Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the future plans of Great Wall Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine to build a Chinese medicine research center, allowing more people to understand the contributions that Great Wall Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine has made to the community.
The guzheng is played by the famous guzheng performer He Ludi. Lotte's live guzheng performance lasted from the beginning to the end of the dance, and the guests were intoxicated by the beautiful music. Lotte has performed for former German Chancellor Dr. Richard Van Weizsacker, former US Presidents George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and the King and Queen of Nepal. Carol, a patient at the Great Wall Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, listened to Lotte's performance and said, "If I hadn't heard it in person, I couldn't believe that she could play ancient and modern Chinese and Western pieces on a guzheng with a history of more than 2,000 years." It can be seen that Lotte's guzheng performance has made more Americans understand the beauty of the guzheng and deepened their interest in Chinese culture.
The lion dance performance starts at six o'clock in the afternoon and is performed by Yuyue Martial Arts Club upon invitation. In China, lion dance and dragon dance are essential performances during the Chinese New Year every year. In the United States, when we sent out invitations and told Americans that there would be a lion dance performance, many people didn't know what was going on. After arriving at the dance and seeing the real performance, everyone was amazed. Seeing Americans performing lion dance makes people feel that Chinese culture is being accepted by more Westerners, because all members of the lion dance team are Americans.
The sumptuous food at the dance included sushi, dumplings, Vietnamese spring rolls, pizza, salad, various drinks, red wine, etc.
During the dance, Dr. Xiao Qingsong would not forget to discuss the condition of their common patient Carol with Dr. Mark Cwynar, the cooperating doctor, to find a better treatment plan.
