(Contributed by Hope Chinese School) On January 12, Principal Xie Xiaohong of Hope Chinese School and Chinese teachers participated in the Post-ACTFL Conference workshop held by the Confucius Institute at Arizona State University. In this exchange seminar, teachers from the Confucius Institute and various Chinese schools shared a lot of insights and experiences in Chinese teaching.

In recent years, Hope Chinese School has opened a variety of Chinese courses to give local Chinese and non-Chinese children the opportunity to receive education in Chinese language and culture. At the same time, more attention is paid to improving the quality of teaching. The school not only frequently holds teaching experience discussions on campus, but also encourages and actively supports teachers to participate in teacher training organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Confucius Institute. Teachers actively participate in each training. This year, our school teacher Yang Jingsheng also represented our school at the American Foreign Language Teaching Annual Conference, and introduced her experience and teaching achievements in Chinese teaching at the conference.

At the seminar, Teacher Yang shared with everyone the wonderful report she made at the annual meeting, showing how to combine various activities that children like to see and hear with Chinese teaching, teaching in a fun way, so that children can learn Chinese and live happily. Other teachers shared how to arrange the classroom environment, set up teaching plans, and teach Chinese culture. These exchanges benefited all the teachers a lot, and the discussions after the meeting were extremely lively. Principal Xie Xiaohong spoke during the discussion, expressing special thanks to the Confucius Institute for hosting this exchange seminar, and encouraged teachers to make choices based on the characteristics of students in their own classes and choose the best teaching methods. She also suggested that teachers should keep pace with the times, keep learning, achieve mutual learning and continuous improvement in teaching!

Another thing that makes all Chinese teachers in our school happy is that the library of Hope Chinese School, "Huaxing Bookstore", has officially opened a few days ago. At the end of last year, the school received a large number of books donated by the China Overseas Exchange Association. These Chinese books are rich in content and of exquisite quality, including novels and poems, teaching reference books, literacy wall charts, and Tang poetry cards. Chinese teachers have actively borrowed the books, and each teacher expressed that they will use these books in their teaching according to their own teaching plans. These books will also be gradually made available to all students in the school.

Excellent teachers are the fundamental guarantee of teaching quality. The school will continue to be committed to teacher training, further improve the level of Chinese teaching, and cultivate more outstanding talents!
