30-year fixed mortgage rates average 4.00% Freddie Mac released the results of its major mortgage market survey?#65288;PMMS?#65289; on November 4. Average mortgage rates fell sharply, and investors were worried about European debt markets as well as U.S. Treasury bonds. The 30-year is fixed at 4.00%, marking its second lowest level, having already seen a record low of 3.94% on October 6. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 4.00%. This time last year, the average 30-year loan rate was 4.24%. The 15-year FRM averaged 3.31% this week, with an average decline of 0.7 percentage points, and last week averaged 3.38%. A year ago at this time, the 15-year FRM averaged 3.63%. The 5-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) averaged 2.96% this week. A year ago, the 5-year ARM averaged 3.39%. The 1-Year Treasury Index ARM is averaging 2.88% this week, and at this time last year, the 1-Year ARM was averaging 3.26%. The Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that LED consumer spending surged and the economy grew by 2.5%. Additionally, consumer spending rose 0.6% in September, the strongest pace in the year in the third quarter.
