The Preparatory Committee of the 70th Weekly Meeting to Commemorate the Victory of the Anti-Fascist and Anti-Japanese War in Alberta held its second meeting in the afternoon of April 12th at the Fengcheng Restaurant. Deng Chaoju, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, presided over the meeting, and 25 people from all walks of life discussed in a united and harmonious atmosphere. Everyone unanimously agreed to follow the policy of remembering history, honoring martyrs, cherishing peace, and looking forward to the future, carry out and support all commemorative activities, promote attention, support, and active participation in commemorative activities from all walks of life, and enhance the unity and cohesion of the Chinese nation. Articles commemorating the Anti-Japanese War have been published in various newspapers and online; an exhibition of anti-Japanese war-era films will be exhibited for the first time at the Phoenix Chinese School on April 19, and will continue to tour; the youth painting competition has been announced by the Overseas Chinese Federation, and everyone is welcome to actively participate; the 100-person Yellow River Cantata is actively organizing personnel rehearsals; a Anti-Japanese War commemoration symposium will be held on July 7 (Mandarin) It is basically ready; preparations are under way for commemorative activities such as evening parties, receptions, and cocktail parties in August and September, as well as the Anti-Japanese War Film Exhibition. Everyone is welcome to launch more commemorative activities to make the activities more colorful. The famous painter Fan Rong, his wife and two traditional Chinese medicine doctors attended today's meeting and painted "Horse Stepping on the Horse" on the spot to express his support for the commemoration event. The meeting discussed and approved: the host of each commemorative event shall be the executive chairman of the committee. People from all walks of life who participated in the organizing committee took the lead in donating money to fund the event. We would like to thank the many enthusiastic people who have supported the commemoration activities and participated in the preparatory activities for their financial support. The preparatory committee has raised more than 5,000 yuan in funds. We hope to continue to receive sponsorship and support from people from all walks of life in accordance with the spirit of "have money and strength" proposed during the Anti-Japanese War. The meeting decided that all individuals and groups who donate more than 100 US dollars will be honored members of the committee, and will be issued certificates by the Association as a souvenir, and will be given preferential treatment in various commemorative activities. All funds raised will be used to support various commemorative activities, and the accounts will be made public and subject to social supervision. The meeting would like to express special thanks to the Cantonese Choir of the Chinese Senior Citizens Association for raising US$1,000 to support the Anti-Japanese War commemoration activities to express their patriotic enthusiasm. The meeting will hold its third meeting at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 17th at the Fucheng Restaurant, and the list of all sponsors will be announced.
