(Chinese Welfare Association Draft) On April 26, the Phoenix Chinese Welfare Association organized a group purchase of birthdays for overseas Chinese at the Kangle Building. A total of 48 birthdays were purchased from the Greenwood Cemetery Company, saving a total of 62,500 yuan compared to the original price. At 8:30 in the morning, David Walker, the general manager of Greenwood Cemetery, Kristine DInius, the manager, and Karla Gottry, the counselor, have arrived at the Leisure Building, and volunteers from the Welfare Association have also taken their places. Starting at nine o'clock, dozens of overseas Chinese came to the scene one after another. According to Mr. Yu Wenjin's arrangement, they first registered and then went about their business in order. With the help of volunteers, the overseas Chinese learned about various matters related to purchasing a birthday plot and selected the location of the cemetery. The volunteers have more experience in group buying work over the years, and they patiently introduced it to the overseas Chinese in Mandarin and Cantonese. Some overseas Chinese need English translation, so volunteers will communicate well with the cemetery staff and help with the work, so that overseas Chinese can buy with peace of mind. During the two working hours of the day, the overseas Chinese bought a total of 48 pieces of longevity land. The price of each piece was 1,300 yuan cheaper than the 4,295 yuan priced by the cemetery company. With only 2,995 yuan, they could buy the blessed land of their choice and settle their affairs after death. The Chinese Welfare Association saved overseas Chinese a total of 62,500 yuan in this Shoudi group purchase. This amount does not include other savings in materials, packages, etc. This is the largest savings for overseas Chinese in group purchases since the Welfare Association re-elected its leadership team in 2011. The cemetery company is very satisfied with the results of this group purchase and thanks the Chinese Welfare Association for its strong assistance. In 1992, Mr. Yu Wenjin, a senior overseas Chinese leader, joined forces with the Chinese Welfare Association to negotiate with the Greenwood Cemetery Company to establish a Chinese cemetery and purchase the cemetery at a preferential price. Over the past 20 years, it has saved overseas Chinese hundreds of thousands of dollars. Volunteers from the Welfare Association not only help with group purchasing, but also often help overseas Chinese in need go to the cemetery to solve cemetery-related matters. One of the major things that the Chinese Welfare Association has focused on for more than 20 years is caring for the afterlife of Chinese compatriots. Volunteers participating in this event include: senior overseas Chinese leader Yu Wenjin, welfare association chairman Zhang Zhaohong, Deng Qingfen, Situ Cun, Yin Fengying and Fang Huixian.
