At 6:00 pm on April 13, a reception for Mr. Cui Tiankai, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, was held at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex Maroon Gym at the University of Arizona. Nearly a hundred ASU Chinese students, teacher representatives and embassy staff attended the reception.
At the reception, Ambassador Cui Tiankai gave a brief speech on the situation of Chinese students at ASU, Sino-US relations, and exchanges between Chinese and American youths. After the reception, Ambassador Cui Tiankai had a close communication with the Chinese students at ASU present. Chinese international students at ASU asked the ambassador questions about topics they care about. A Chinese engineering student asked Ambassador Cui Tiankai about the employment situation of his major in the United States and China, and shared the employment confusion he currently faces. Ambassador Cui patiently answered his questions at the scene.崔大使表示,无论是在美国就业还是回国,都尊重同学们自己的选择,都有利于促进中美两国关系的发展。

According to the Chinese students present, before the reception began, Ambassador Cui Tiankai had met with some Chinese student representatives from ASU individually in the afternoon. These student representatives are recommended by student organizations such as ASU CSSA and study at ASU at different stages and majors. The reporter interviewed a Chinese student representative who attended the afternoon reception. She said that she was an exchange student coming to ASU to study. During the afternoon event, she asked the ambassador about the situation of Chinese international students applying for master's scholarships.
According to an embassy staff member at the scene, Ambassador Cui Tiankai’s visit to ASU was organized by the ASU Washington Center McCain Institute. ASU CSSA Chinese Students Association is responsible for reception.
