>Memory of the 20th Anniversary Celebration of Alberta Modern Chinese School In early summer, the fragrance of purple hibiscus bloomed. On the morning of May 7, 2016, Alberta Modern Chinese School held a grand 20th anniversary celebration ceremony in the auditorium of Marcos de Niza High School. The spring breeze has turned into rain for twenty years, and the whole hall is full of joy and drinking together. Modern education continues, and good deeds promote education and cultivate talents. In the cheerful singing of "Good Day", the celebration ceremony kicked off. A group of energetic and beautiful female students from the Chinese school performed a dynamic colorful silk dance accompanied by the beautiful singing of the Chinese Orchestra Girls' Chorus. "The joyful dance brings out the joy of today, and the beautiful singing brings joy. Today is a good day, today is the 20th anniversary of the Alberta Modern Chinese School. After 20 years of ups and downs, 20 years of fragrant peaches and plums, today we finally ushered in the moment of joyful gathering, sharing splendor and glory. Welcome to you old volunteers, the founders of Chinese schools, welcome to friends who have been supporting Chinese schools for a long time. Welcome to you students who work hard, welcome to you, parents who work tirelessly regardless of rain or shine, welcome to you hard-working gardeners, and respected teachers." Xihe Chairman Tian Shaowei won warm applause and resonance from teachers, students and guests of the school with his poetic speech. Today's program hosts are Cindy Lin, who is renowned for her beauty and dignity in the province, and Tao Shicheng, a senior teacher at the Chinese school. Their passionate and literary announcements in Chinese and English attracted all the viewers.

In his congratulatory letter, President Zhang highly praised our school’s contribution to spreading Chinese culture to the young generation of Chinese Americans and the diverse community, commended countless volunteers who have worked hard over the past two decades, and wished our celebration a complete success! What particularly excited everyone was the announcement sent by the Mayor of Tempe to our school: In view of the positive contributions that the Alberta Modern Chinese School has made to Chinese education, cultural exchanges and community construction in the region since its establishment, I, the Mayor of Tempe, Mike Mitchell, declare May 7, 2016 as the Alberta Modern Chinese School Day.

On behalf of the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles, Consul Wang Xuezheng expressed warm congratulations to Modern Chinese School on its 20th anniversary celebration! Consul Wang said that overseas Chinese education is a "root project" to inherit Chinese civilization. Modern Chinese schools play an important role in inheriting Chinese civilization and promoting Chinese culture, and shoulder sacred responsibilities! Dr. Cutter, Director of the Confucius Institute, also spoke on the stage as a guest and expressed warm congratulations to the school, and together with Mrs Fannie Tam, Director of the Confucius Institute, presented the trophy to the Modern Chinese School in recognition of our school’s great contribution to the promotion of Chinese culture! Recalling the past, the peach and plum blossoms are silent, and they have their own ups and downs; looking at the present, they are generous and virtuous, and they continue to have the reputation of Phoenix. Today, as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Alberta Modern Chinese School, we drink water and remember its origins, and we have never forgotten the difficulties in the early days of the school’s establishment. Since the establishment of Modern Chinese School in August 1996, it has grown from a small scale of more than 30 students and three or four teachers to today's grand occasion of more than 600 registered students. The school has opened 27 Chinese classes, 17 math classes, and more than a dozen various cram schools and talent classes. Due to high-quality teaching, the academic performance of our school students is obvious to all. Our school won the honorable title of “National Model Chinese School” in 2013 and has maintained this honor to this day.

Former principal and former chairman Zhu Yan

Former principal and former chairman Zhu Yan invited the previous principals and chairman of the board of directors who have led the school for twenty years to the stage on behalf of the school. All teachers and students gave them warm applause to express their respect and gratitude to them!

> Zhou Guizhen Diana Ho

This is the list of principals and chairmen from all walks of life from 1996 to 2016: 1. Xu Qiang, 2. Zhou Guizhen Diana Ho, 3. Zhang Yonghang, 4. Chen Ting, 5. He Jiping (absent), 6. Fei Jian, 7. Li Ren (absent), 8. Tao Shicheng, 9. Gao Ying (absent), 10. Steve Tu, 11. Jing Tianwei, 12. Lin Su, 13. Yu Zhiyi (absent), 14. Yu Zhi, 14. Wei Yi (absent), 15. Gary Li, 16. Tony Tam, 17. He Chunxiao, 18. Wang Yang, 19. Song Liangwu (absent), 20. Zhu Yan, 21. Tian Shaowei, 22. Jim Xi. Everyone is very grateful for their special contributions to the school as leaders of the school! The respected old principal Diana Ho and Zhou Guizhen reviewed the history of the school on behalf of the old leaders and sent congratulations! The school also thanks all current and retired volunteers, school committee and board leaders!

Current school committee and board members Sun Jijun, Wang Yulan, Wang Xiaohong, Ling Hong, Wu Jin, Wu Ge, Zhu Yan, Wang Yang, Allan Yang, Fannie Tam, He Qi, Steve Tu, Larry Song, and Miao Yuliang also took the stage to accept the commendation from the principal and chairman. Chairman Tian Shaowei solemnly announced that the next president will be Ms. Wang Yulan and the chairman will be Mr. JIM XI! On behalf of the school, Ms. Wang Yulan expressed her high respect and gratitude to all the teachers, the mainstay of the school! Our school has a rap class for toddlers. Although the children in the class are young, they are amazing. They started reciting ancient poems early! What's even more commendable is that they bravely took to the stage today! The songs "Ode to the Goose" and "Spring Dawn" at the graduation ceremony allowed the children to sing about nature in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. This song can not only adapt to their strong imitation ability at this age, but also stimulate their interest and enthusiasm for Chinese. This is their first stage. Innocent and jumping with joy. At Modern Chinese School, they will officially embark on a wonderful journey of learning Chinese. As a starting course for learning Chinese, teacher Guirui helps children accept Chinese language, Chinese characters, ancient poems, Chinese culture, etc. by teaching healthy, familiar, and catchy children's songs and ancient poems, thereby cultivating children's interest in learning Chinese and improving their motivation for learning. The development of modern Western physics and astronomy theories has given wings to human imagination. It is precisely because of the curiosity and exploration of history and time travel by students in their teenage years that teachers Song Jiaoyu, Shao Ying, Zeng Yinghua, and Guirui in the sixth and seventh grades presented a unique time travel drama "Modern Chinese School Begins" - Gorky, Li Bai, Zu Chongzhi, Ma Liang, Leonardo da Vinci, Hua Mulan, they all came to the Chinese school. Celebrities from ancient and modern times gathered together, and the Eight Immortals crossed the sea, each showing his magical powers. This is an exchange of Chinese culture and an expectation for the future of traveling through time and space. The greatest cultivation in life is love, gratitude and tolerance! I hope that life can be as described by the old man Bing Xin: love on the left, sympathy on the right, walking on both sides of life, sowing seeds at any time, blooming at any time, embellishing this long path with fragrant flowers, so that pedestrians walking through the branches and leaves, stepping on the thorns, will not feel pain, and there will be tears to fall, but they will not be desolate. I hope every child can learn to be grateful and tolerant as they grow up! Children from Teacher Wu Huanghua and Chen Fang’s first-grade class performed the sign language song and dance “Thank You” together. Being filial to parents and respecting teachers are traditional Chinese virtues. Thank parents, teachers, the little flowers and grass on the roadside, the strong winds and heavy rains that have passed, thank the flowing water, the great mountains, thank God and the earth, thank all the people, things and things that can be thanked, so that while learning Chinese, children can cultivate a correct outlook on life and become a grateful person. Thanks to the school for creating a good platform that allows our first-grade children to have the opportunity to practice.

Our school has a student band that is active in Phoenix. Under the careful guidance of Teacher Cai Shangao, he performed excellently at the celebration commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Fascist War and the Alberta Spring Festival Gala, and received widespread attention and praise. They played the repertoire "Butterfly Lovers" and the episode "Nine Children" from the TV series "Red Sorghum" for everyone. Received warm applause from the entire audience. The girls' choir also sang the tearful "Jiuer" with the accompaniment of the band. Among them, the outstanding performance of Yang Xingyu, the violin soloist, won the audience's praise.

Each of us has a zodiac sign, which is what we know as the Chinese zodiac. Each animal sign in the Chinese zodiac has its own unique temperament. Liching, Annie Zhou, and students from Teacher Tao Shicheng’s bilingual class and Chinese speaking class performed the stories of the twelve zodiac signs vividly, humorously and lively.

Our modern Chinese school not only offers a variety of courses for children, but also prepares painting, chorus, dance, photography and other courses for parents. This not only cultivates parents' interests and hobbies, but also greatly enriches everyone's spare time life. Parents and teachers presented a passionate Xinjiang dance "Pomegranate Skirt" to the audience. Their beautiful costumes, graceful dance postures, and neat lineup made the audience burst into warm applause. Everyone paid tribute to this group of mothers who had no dance background but showed beauty with their hard work and study! In the past, when I heard the song "Childhood", I always lamented that the green years have taken away the innocent childhood that once belonged to us. After listening to the song "Childhood" adapted by teacher Fu Tong and Zhang Cihui and sung by second grade students, everyone will have different feelings. This song speaks to the hearts of many children growing up in America. And some of these sighs still originate from our modern Chinese schools.

Four teachers (Gao Jingjing, Wan Rong, Yang Mei, and Yang Xiaodan) also collaborated to present our program - performing "Morning on Campus". More than 40 students were neatly dressed and had loud voices. Everyone's face was filled with youthful smiles. The highlight is the little girl performing in the front row, wearing a bright and eye-catching floral skirt, like a real dancer in a meadow full of flowers, looking like smart and petite butterflies waving their colorful wings. Her moving dance looks like she is looking for beauty, freedom, and dreams! Finally, the students wished "Happy Birthday, Modern Chinese School!" The thunderous applause from the audience was not just an appreciation of beauty! Big cheers! I also admire the outstanding performance of the students!

Along with the development of Chinese history and civilization, martial arts have gone through thousands of years of ups and downs and become a magic weapon for the Chinese nation to protect their souls. Practicing martial arts since childhood can not only strengthen the body, but also cultivate one's moral character, which has many benefits. Since our school opened martial arts classes, we have always had a brave and heroic martial arts team. Today they also came to this stage to show everyone the Chinese martial arts of standing like a pine, sitting like a bell, and walking like the wind.

With reluctance and longing for the future, our graduating class is about to say goodbye to Modern Chinese School. The ten years of hardship include the persistence and hard work of them and their parents day after day, year after year. When parting, they must have a lot to say to the school, teachers and classmates. The graduating class received scholarships and diplomas. Teacher Li Suhui of the graduating class teaches well, is versatile, and is serious and responsible. The performances performed by the graduating class every year are eye-catching and leave lasting memories for the children. This year's graduating class performed like an orchestra, with Tan Xiaolin playing the viola and Zhang Xiaoxiao playing the violin, Xu Jiawei playing the electronic keyboard, Zhang Enhan playing the French horn, and He Lu, Zhang Enyuan, Lin Lijun, and James Hu singing. They were really versatile. "Give me freedom and let me play with fire. Give me a reason and let me fly into the sky. Let me grow and I will become stronger. I just need to look forward with hope and think about the future." This song "Look Forward" written and sung by the graduating students themselves shocked the audience!

The school attaches great importance to Chinese education and teaching effectiveness. The annual Chinese knowledge competition is the best way to test the students' performance! Vice President of Teaching Wang Yulan presented trophies to the 26 students who won the first prize, and commended all the students who won the second and third prizes. Six students who participated in the 2016 Second Dance Cup Dance Competition and two whose articles were selected to be sent to China Week magazine were also commended by Wang Yulan.

In recent years, the student union of our school has excellently organized a number of activities, truly becoming a bridge and link between the school and students. Three student union presidents, Zhao Yan, Monet Tam, and Cheng Wenting, on behalf of all members of the student union, introduced the efforts and contributions made by the student union this year in participating in the Spring Festival Gala, China Week, nursing homes, student bands, and golf fundraisers! Chen Bin, counselor of the Student Union, worked tirelessly to create a yearbook for the school and presented awards to the students who won the painting competition! Her speech applauding the student union also inspired more students to prepare to join the student union. Over the past twenty years, we have gone through ups and downs, taking root, blooming and bearing fruit in a foreign land. Looking back at the series of footprints, we are proud, we are proud! We have not insulted the hard work, bravery and wisdom our ancestors left us. No matter when, no matter where we are, that piece of land that haunts our dreams will always be the feelings and memories in our hearts that cannot be shaken off. Before the celebration ended, our school's adult choir, all teachers, school committee board members and teachers Lu Lihua, Li Shuxiang, Li Mingmin, Na Sijia, Wang Xue, Wang Yulan), Yang Jingsheng, Tang Nanjun, Zhu Yan's Chinese preschool, third grade, eighth grade, ninth grade, tenth grade, Pre Students from the AP/SAT Chinese class and the AP/SAT Chinese class took the stage to sing two soulful and beautiful songs, "Ocean, Hometown" and "The Same Song", accompanied by the school band and under the command of Teacher Cai, to express their deep longing for their homeland and their longing and longing for a better future. We sing the same song, work towards the same goal, and work together! I wish our children will thrive! I wish our school will thrive!
