(Contributed by UCAA, Hualian Federation of Alberta) Hualian Federation of Alberta (UCAA) ) President Li Jian was invited to attend the 8th World Overseas Chinese Associations Conference. More than 700 overseas Chinese leaders from 136 countries and regions around the world gathered in Beijing to participate in this event. On the morning of June 2, the conference officially opened. Chen Deming, President of the Qianhai Association, and Zhang Zhijun, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, gave special speeches on "One Belt, One Road" construction and opportunities for overseas Chinese, and "Current Cross-Strait Relations and Work with Taiwan" respectively at the Beijing Hotel. In the afternoon, the conference held a grand opening ceremony in the Great Hall of the People. State Councilor Yang Jiechi delivered an opening speech. Qiu Yuanping, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, gave a themed report on "Working Together to Draw a Harmonious Scene and Build a National Dream Together." Subsequently, Premier Li Keqiang cordially received all participants in the Golden Hall on the third floor of the Great Hall of the People and delivered an important speech. Premier Li Keqiang's wonderful speech pushed the day's meeting to a climax.
