Lu Jiakai, deputy chairman of Taiwan's Retired Officers and Soldiers Counseling Committee, visited Phoenix On August 25, 2017, nearly a hundred Arizona veterans, Taiwanese veterans and their families gathered together to welcome Lu Jiakai, deputy director of the Taiwan Retired Officers and Soldiers Counseling Committee, and Wang Kaiheng, chief of the Overseas Liaison Section, to visit Phoenix. The Arizona Veterans Association and the American Legion hosted a banquet at the Phoenix Hilton Hotel. Arizona Senator Yu Yanfen and historian Herb Zinn were the guest speakers, sharing the stories of veteran families and their stories on the battlefield. Reggie Yates, President of the Arizona Veterans Association, George Ong, President of the American Legion Association, former Asian White House Advisor Deng Chaoju, Congressional Veterans Services Director Lee Huff, Congressman Andy Biggs, Chandler City Councilman Huang Xinmin, Chinese Federation Chairman Qiu Shunxiong, and Overseas Chinese Affairs Advisory Committee Gao Zhizhong all attended the welcome luncheon. Some guests took a group photo. Commissioner Lu said he was very happy to see such a harmonious relationship between the Arizona Veterans Association and Taiwanese veterans and their families. We are all like a family, and we did not expect that the local community has such respect for veterans, those who have devoted their youth and blood to the country. This was his first time participating in a local veterans' fellowship event in Phoenix, and he was very happy. Lu Jiakai, deputy chairman of Taiwan’s Retired Officers and Soldiers Counseling Committee Arizona Senator Yu Yanfen
