Arizona received $30 million in federal funding as part of its implementation of federal health care reform. The federal government on Tuesday allocated a total of nearly $220 million to 13 states to set up health insurance exchanges that, starting in 2014, provide people without health insurance with an online way to purchase private health insurance. Arizona is among the states challenging the federal government's Medicare for All in court. But Governor Brewer also set up online health insurance exchanges while challenging the federal government. The federal government provides grants to states that don't have online health insurance exchanges, and Brewer said her complaint and acceptance of the grants took into account both the pros and cons. Some dissenting lawmakers, however, say Arizona's participation and challenge reflect the wavering behavior of those in power in Alberta.
