Mother left home to drink, leaving three children at home and was arrested (Alberta Times) Phoenix police arrested a woman who allegedly left three children at home while she went out to drink. According to court documents, police received a call around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday that Anji Masuda's three children, ages 5, 6 and 8, were found near the apartment building without adult supervision. The children returned home 35 minutes before officers arrived. The police accompanied the children and waited for their mother. After waiting for 45 minutes, Masuda came back. Masuda told officers she had gone out to drink with friends. Although I did not hire a nanny for the children, I asked my neighbors and they agreed to come and check on me. But neighbors told police they were unwilling to help Masuda watch the children and said Masuda always left them home alone. Masuda was arrested on three counts of child abuse and transported to the Fourth Street Jail. The children were transported to the custody of Child Protective Services.
