In response to the government's promotion of environmental protection, energy conservation and carbon reduction policies, and to strengthen the strength of Taiwan's bicycle tourism industry, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Council has scheduled the "2014 Overseas Chinese Business Youth Taiwan Bicycle Tour Invitation Group" from August 31 to September 5, 2014. This event encourages young overseas Chinese businessmen to return to their country to experience Taiwan’s urban and rural landscape and local culture by riding bicycles, and to increase business opportunities for exchanges and cooperation in the bicycle industry at home and abroad. Participating group members must pay for their own round-trip air tickets to their place of residence and five-night accommodation fees (NT$6,900 for a double room and NT$13,800 for a single room) upon check-in. The remaining group transportation, meals, visits, insurance and other related expenses, as well as bicycles and safety equipment, will be provided by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Council. Eligibility for registration is young overseas Chinese businessmen aged 25 to 45 who have the physical fitness, skills and experience to ride more than 50 kilometers (inclusive) every day and are proficient in Chinese. Those interested in participating should contact the Orange County Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Service Center at 714-754-9999 in Orange County, San Diego, and Arizona; in the Los Angeles area, please contact the Los Angeles Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Service Center at 626-443-9999.
