According to the manuscript by Zhang Tang and the Chinese translation by Wang Cong: The 2012 Chinese Culture Week, which aims to serve the Chinese community and the citizens of the greater Phoenix area, was a complete success. This year marks the 100th anniversary of Arizona's statehood. As part of the 100th anniversary celebration, this year's Cultural Week has special significance. The three-day cultural week held at the end of January can be regarded as the prelude to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the state. (February 14 is Arizona’s statehood day. On February 14, 1912, President Taft officially signed the law recognizing Arizona’s admission to the Union. The state government’s centennial celebration will be held near the State Capitol from February 12 to 14) At a press conference on January 23, the newly elected Phoenix Vice Mayor Mike Johnson and the former deputy mayor and city councilor Williams opened the cultural week with their speeches. They talked about I have participated in Chinese Culture Week activities for a long time and sincerely appreciate this kind of activity. At the opening ceremony of the 2012 Chinese Culture Week held on January 27, newly elected Phoenix Mayor Gray Stanton also expressed his satisfaction with the cultural week activities. On that day, several schools participated in the opening ceremony and performed. Overall, this cultural week has reached a considerable level. Of course, Arizona's famous winter weather and warm sunshine are factors that boost attendance and satisfaction. Although there are more stalls available for vendors and more time for more performances, the organizers welcome more merchants and performers to participate in the 2013 Chinese Culture Week. This year's appreciation dinner was held at Luk Fook Restaurant. Nearly two hundred people had dinner here, which was very lively and full of festive joy. Not only that, the martial arts team also performed the very popular dragon dance at the dinner. Due to the limited indoor stage space, the dragon dance team took the dragon to perform outdoors. The dragon dance performance that night seemed more natural and smooth. At the dinner, Mayor Stanton said that this was not his first time to participate in Chinese Culture Week activities. He had participated many times when he was a city councilor. He admitted that the City Hall was a loyal sponsor of Chinese Culture Week and would continue to support this event. Mayor Stanton pointed out that Phoenix is now integrated into the global economy, so it must look to the world. He also points out that closing yourself off when times are tough would be a mistake. He said some people advocate cutting the budget of sister city projects and calling it a simple "soft" savings plan, but this is the wrong plan. At the dinner, Mr. Chen Zhigang from Phoenix's sister city Chengdu performed a face-changing performance, which became the climax of the whole night. Face Changing is a local traditional opera performance in Sichuan and is a part of Sichuan Opera. Face-changing is only taught to men (because women may reveal their secrets to others after getting married). The 2012 Phoenix Chinese Culture Week was undoubtedly a huge success, especially since the leadership and organizing committee members faced various transition difficulties. Facing any challenges during the transition period, this organizing committee is confident to complete it, surpass it, and bring the Chinese Culture Week activities to a new level.
