The world's best universities are released. China accounts for 16 places. QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), a British international higher education and human resources research institution, announced this morning the 2011 world's best universities rankings (top 300). A total of 16 Chinese universities are on the list. For the first time, six universities in Hong Kong have entered the top 300 at the same time. Among them, the University of Hong Kong once again defeated the University of Tokyo and retained the title of "No. 1 in Asia". There are 8 universities in mainland China on the list, with Peking University and Tsinghua University ranking 46th and 47th respectively. In addition, two Taiwanese universities are on the list. This global higher education ranking survey, conducted by QS, an internationally renowned educational consulting organization, covers major universities around the world and is an important reference for students applying to study in universities. The ranking is mainly based on six indicators including academic performance, employer evaluation, internationalization of teachers and students, and citations of papers. QS pointed out that the survey of the world's best universities is based on interviews with more than 16,000 employers and 32,000 academic staff around the world. In this year's rankings, 6 of the top ten universities are occupied by American universities, and 4 are occupied by British universities. Data shows that Cambridge University has topped Harvard University for two consecutive years.
