December 31st deadline for tax deductions for donations (Alberta Times) As the year is approaching, donating unused items at home to the Salvation Army, writing a check to a charity, donating some money to your child’s school are all good ways to get the tax deduction limit. Keep the receipts and bring them to your tax accountant before April 15th. They will help you calculate your income tax and reduce the total amount. In 2010, Arizona collected $867 million in private income taxes and had $204 million in charitable contribution tax credits. Doing good deeds during the holidays can also be tax deductible, so why not do it?
