A letter from the Tzu Chi Phoenix Liaison Office: It has been nearly half a month since the Sandy storm occurred in the East United States. For Americans in the East United States, they themselves may not have imagined that this disaster would be so serious and affect so many people and for such a long time. This is unimaginable for the world, and with the strength of the United States, even if there is a disaster, it will be able to recover immediately... But is the actual situation at this moment really what we think? The victims of the disaster in the East United States are still trapped in a difficult life of floods, no electricity, low gas, cold weather, no heating, and insufficient food. Because of the Lord’s compassionate wish to bear the burden, Tzu Chi people across the United States also seemed to be okay with the disaster in the East United States at the beginning. Until now, the more they pay in-depth, the more moved they are, and they realize the vastness of the disaster area and the urgent need for help! The Master lovingly indicated today that Tzu Chi workers across the United States are now mobilized just as the U.S. government formed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). As volunteers in the Eastern United States are gradually exhausted, we have witnessed the support of the relay of love from all over the world. Whether from the United States, the West or the United States, many Bodhisattvas with rich experience in disaster detection and disaster relief have arrived or set off to the Eastern United States to provide assistance; and Tzu Chi people across the United States launched a street fund-raising event last week and called on relatives and friends to join in charity and deeds. This Saturday, November 17, Tzu Chi will continue to raise funds on the street, and invites the public to participate in this grand event and contribute a little bit to the victims of the East American disaster.
