Mexican drug lord offers a reward of 1 million for Apao's head (Alberta Times) Maricopa County Sheriff Arpaio has always been known for his tough attitude in combating smuggling, drug trafficking, and illegal immigration. Recently, according to reliable sources, a Mexican drug lord offered $1 million for Sheriff Apao’s head. A spokeswoman for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said that from the FBI and anonymous sources, the Mexican drug cartel did send such information through mobile phones, but it was not known which group was responsible. Last Saturday, a 41-year-old man was arrested outside a bar in Mesa because he threatened to kill Sheriff Apao. The suspect is currently being held at the Fourth Street Jail and faces disorderly conduct and arrest charges. In his 20 years as a police officer, the sergeant has received death threats many times. He said he would continue to work hard to combat crime.
